• This vine is mostly herbaceous or occasionally semi-woody at the base.
• Climbing by tendrils and identified by the thick, fleshy, trifoliate leaves, which have a disagreeable odor when bruised.
• Flowers in early summer, and the fruit is shiny black and non-edible.
• Deer will browse on the leaves.
