DETAILS:
Resembles an overgrown tobosa, both growing from rough, scaly rhizomes.
The main difference between the two is galleta has awns on each glume (4-5 mm) whereas, tobosa grass does not.
Often burned to increase its palatability to livestock.
Adapted to dry plains and dry slopes.
Found primarily in the western Texas panhandle.
