DETAILS:

  • Also known as, “Tahoka daisy” and “Daggerflower”.
  • Flowers May to October.
  • Adapted to sandy soils on plains, hillsides and slopes, often in disturbed areas.
  • Not a true aster, due to the spine-tipped leaves.
  • Deer and antelope will browse the leaves. Of little value to livestock.
  • The Navajo Indians would reduce nasal congestion by taking the dried roots as a sneeze-inducing snuff.
