• Generally scattered to abundant on sandy to calcareous clay soils throughout most of Texas.
• At maturity the basal leaves will turn yellow and curly, giving the appearance of wood shavings. The leaves are hairless.
• Provides fair grazing to livestock and some seed production for upland birds.
