  • Also known as, “Rigid Wooly-bucket bumelia,” “Blackhaw,” “Wooly-buckthorn,” “Wooly-bumelia,” and “False-buckthorn” to mention a few.
  • Flowers June to July, and the fruit matures September to October.
  • The fruit is eaten by many wildlife species. Birds are very fond of the fruit; in fact, they get it as soon as it ripens.
  • A gum is freely exuded from wounds on the trunk.
  • The stiff branches form a narrow crown and are often spiny.
